To what extent is your ward/SOA resembles a sustainable community and to what extent do you think it does.Give some evidence from your observations of this judgement.

A sustainable community is a place where people want to live and work now and in the future. It is a community that meets the needs of existing and future residence.

I live in Lumbertubs which is under Northampton North. My community is sustainable we have a tesco nearby, a leisure centre, schools and medical centre is within a walking distance. My community actively minimise the effects of climate change eg the council sends leaflets informing people that there will be locating a skip for household waste. The skip is normally paid by community cashback. They put the skip in a place which is easily accessible. There is also a local tip disposal in my community for things like TVs, computers, washing machines etc.You can also join Northampton north/ freecycle if you want to throw stuff away, this shows that my community is a sustainable community and people are well informed of events taking place.

The community offer opportunity for cultural leisure activities. The leisure centre nearby respect and engage with people from different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs. There is a good park which benefits young children and supports social cohesion. Also a church attended by people from different backgrounds. My community is fair to everyone, the public school in the area is composed of people from different backgrounds. The 2001 census show that there are people from different backgrounds and religions in my community.

My community is well built, there are a lot of decent homes and there are good parking areas. There is a good run of public transport that helps people travel from one place to another. Most people in my community use pulic tranport because it is very reliable. All in all my community is working hard to improve the lives people.

EDUCATION AND CITIZENSHIP

I live in Lumbertubs. My constituency is Northampton North and the MP for this constituency is Ms Sally Keeble of the Labour Party. Labour dominates Northampton North. It is the people's party and believes in fairness.

The elections will be held in June 2010. My attitude is people have the right to vote. People need to informed that voting is their right and they need to claim that right. They need to be informed that their votes count so it is their duty to change something if they are not happy about it. Some people find it time consuming are demotivated by poor campaigns for example people read negative campaining messages which demotivates them.

Most young people are not interested in Politics. They need to be encouraged to go out and vote. Raising an awareness so that they understand why it is important for them to vote. Some failures by the government to address impotant issues faced by British public demotivates people.

I think enviromental problems should be addressed. My concern is there will be congestion on roads, due to personal car travel so gass emissions and air pollution will be higher during the election time.
